Heroes - S02E01

In which I discuss the most recent episode of Heroes. Read no further if you don’t want anything to be spoiled.

So, the first episode of the second season of Heroes aired tonight on NBC. Overall I enjoyed it, there are a lot of new, open plot hooks and enough characters that should see a return to the same style of story-telling as the first season. That is to say, a little bit of everything but not enough of anything each and every damn episode! Oh Heroes, does Wayne Brady need to– anyways.

I was surprised to find out that Kaito Nakamura was once a “bad guy” - but I can’t remember if that was alluded to previously. It’s too bad he had to die though, I thought George Takei did a wonderful job. It was also nice to see Nathan use the ‘E’ word on his mom - take that, fifth commandment!

I found that the Bennet Butler story was a bit stale (more high school teenage angst for Claire and some guy who is obviously her half-brother? No thanks). Noah, of course, is the exception, and I am looking forward to seeing more of his and Mohinder’s plan with The Company.

The Parkman vs Sauron showdown should be interesting as well.

I think there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that Hiro will end up taking the place of his beloved hero Kensai, and spawn some kind of self-fulfilling prophecy. As predictable as it may be, I look forward to his future (past?) antics as always because he’s such a lovable character. And who knows? There may be some surprises along the way…

Finally, Peter Petrelli. Poor Milo, did someone leave you locked up in a shipping container? No worries mate; these friendly Irish lads will help you ou- oooh…right. Well then, never mind.

Best of luck with the amnesia though.
