Last night I went to see the movie Stardust with some friends. The movie is based off of a story written by Neil Gaiman which I have never read, but now find myself compelled to purchase and, perhaps, devour. The film, in a word, is magical. In two words, it is magically delicious.
Humans have said that the movie evokes memories of The Princess Bride, and they are not incorrect. To say it is a “Princess Bride for the 21st century” is also acceptable. The characters (both living and dead) are entertaining and the story, as far as fantastic romantic comedies are concerned, flows very well. The viewer is never left wondering in regards to why certain things (magic, flying airships, etc) work. It just does and we are carried along for the ride.
Without going into spoiler territory regarding plot, I’ll just say that this is one of the years best films and you need to go see it now, with as many friends as possible. Twice.
